I have been reading rave reviews about the Sorel Caribou Boots for years praising their comfort, fit, durability and 40 below zero degree rating. I have also read dozens of comments about the sizing being 1/2 size larger than standard American made shoes and boots.PROs: Everything I've read about this boot is true. They do run quite big and wide (so order a 1/2 size smaller or wear 3 pairs of socks), they are completely waterproof and the inner liner can be used as slippers when you're sitting in your tent at 3800 feet in the middle of a winter storm. They are also waterproof and make great muck boots in swampy areas when you're trying to bag that trophy whitetail or water fowl. The boot is breathable and in warmer or colder weather your feet will not sweat as with all rubber muck boots.CONs: There are no half sizes so if your foot is a half size (9 1/2, 10 1/2, 11 1/2) your boot will either be very snug or very loose depending on whether you buy a 1/2 size larger or 1/2 size smaller. The description of this boot on the Sorel website lists two inner liners where one or both can be removed, the boot only comes with one inner liner. The rubber sole is quite stiff and can take it's toll on your feet when walking up and down hills or on uneven terrain for extended periods of time (although I don't mind it if it means I won't get frost bite). The inner sole is hard and flat and should be replaced with a Dr. Scholls gel type.I would definitely recommend this boot for Hunting in tree stands or grounds blinds where you will be sitting still for hours and the temperatures may drop below freezing to minus 20 degrees, and in swampy or muddy areas. It is also great when pushing a snow plow through snow drifts.

The Caribou Reserve is a giant step above the Caribou 1000. If you're as lazy as me, you hate pulling on the heavy socks and all the hassle of cold weather dressing. The full shearling lining of the Caribou Reserve give me the option of just pulling them on bare footed. And the are completely waterproof. The Bison upper is a bit more for show than functionality. I also have a pair in Ostrich. But whichever leather you choose, Caribou will keep you warm. And the soles are unique in that they don't allow snow to build up in the treads as most winter boots will. Whichever way you go, everyone who must deal with winter should have a pair of Caribou. And when considering the price, remember you're going to have them for ten years or more.

Purchased Caribou Reserve boots through Amazon. Quality throughout. I purchased a size larger which fits perfect. I could not be happier with purchasing these boots. I feel that they are worth every penny. They really are the most comfortable , warmest, best looking snowboot I've ever owned . Warning,,,, once you put these on you won't want to take them off........
