By Steve
I just received these boots and they look just like the picture, no surprises. Seems to be well made. Ive had Dingos in the past and they held up well, same expectations here. The boots I received are at least 1/2 size too large (ordered a 10D) and there was a fair amount of slippage. Plus side is they were comfortable width, just too much extra toe room. They are being returned. I had to order a smaller size( trying a 9.5D) from another website due to lack of availability or would have exchanged them instead. Not happy with this process. Beware, these seem to run big.

By Leopold Bloom
This is a Wellington-style zipper boot, which is also available in a mid-calf, pull-on style. It's similar to the Frye "Campus" boot, although the Frye has an actual stacked-leather heel while the Dingo has a rubber heel colored to resemble stacked leather. The Dingo is also about half the price of the Frye, and the "spice" color is similar to the Frye "banana." The Frye's leather sole has to be periodically replaced, like a dress shoe, while the Dingo's rubber sole is probably more durable. The colored heel, on close inspection, looks nothing like a stacked leather heel, but it does have one advantage. I have had the heels of two pairs of Frye boots ruined by overzealous shoe repair shops that polished them along with the rest of the shoe; polish will soak into the leather and obliterate the pattern, as the lighter-colored leather will be the same color as the darker. Once this is done, it can't be reversed. I would expect that any polish applied to the Dingo's rubber heel would either not stick, or would come off easily with soap. I haven't owned a Campus for years, and looking at the current ones on Amazon, it looks like Frye is now using a colored rubber heel as well. The Dingo's main advantage is that it comes in triple E as well as D, while the Frye is only available in D, so someone with wide feet can get a fit in their correct length.
