I was able to get this pair of boots on sale with a couple promotional offers from Amazon for $72 and at that price point from initial inspection it seems like a very good quality piece of footwear... at the full $180 price tag it seems a bit much as its not a heavy duty boot like most Wolverine boots with steel toes and what not. The leather is soft and supple and the rubber toe is reasonably hard but seems flexible enough to withstand small forces that would cause scuffs as advertised. The boot is probably about medium weight as Amazon lists it at about 1 lb per shoe.As it seems with most Rockports, they tend to run a bit large and/or wide and I had read that the boot would be a tighter fit. I ended up purchasing my normal shoe size and the result was it fit just a little loose in the heel and just snug enough at the instep. The Thinsulate is soft and will definitely keep your feet warm as it feels like a fleece blanket and the sole of the boot is firm as expected with the adiPRENE. The outsole is about 3/4" thick and looks to be pretty durable as does the rest of the construction of the shoe.All summed up, would probably buy again at that same price point, but not the listed retail price. The only thing preventing it from getting 5 stars is... haven't had the winter weather yet to test it out. So we'll see how it does after a true test run. Should be great for wearing out in the snow.

Overall, the boots are very comfortable and warm. I have not been in a situation to test the waterproof feature yet. One aspect of the boots that doesn't work overly well for me is that they are not designed with a traditional tongue but rather are a solid piece of leather across the upper portion of your foot. I expect this improves the waterproof feature of the boots but I have a narrow foot and am not able to tighten the boots well on the lower part of my foot and am limited to tightening the boot at the top to keep it as snug as possible on my foot. If your foot is wider, this is probably not an issue. I would rate the boots a 3.5 and higher if my feet were wider.
