My husbands last pair of Sorel's weren't up to par quality wise so I inspected these like a hawk when they arrived. This pair is durable and wonderfully made, and he says they are very comfortable with a nice light to medium weight. He has a normal width sz 8.5 to 9 foot and these in a 9 fit well with no pinching etc. Aesthetically, I prefer this style to some of the bulkier styled boots. A little touch of rugged, but still a slim profile. Not too "hipster urban lumberjack" or too "clunky grandpa on the farm". They looked good with modern slimmer cut jeans, but most importantly are functional and warm for a few hours in mild snow.

Just got these in, very comfortable. Seem to be well-made. Can't wait to take em on a camping trip to the mountains. I normally wear a size 10 in boots (of all kinds) and like 10.5 in say a Nike shoe. The size 10 in this boot fit great. Hope that helps if someone has size questions. Haven't tested the waterproof capabilities.Update:Just had a major snowstorm (by Texas standards anyway), and I used these for several days. I do not think that the insulation is particularly warm. However, I was above my ankle in water, and my feet did not get wet. My major concern is how slippery the soles are. If you are not paying attention it is quite easy to lose your footing on moderately slick surfaces when they are wet. Overall, It is a nice boot. While trekking around in the snow, my feet did get quite cold fairly quickly, but I haven't really ever owned any other insulated boot to compare it to. If you are going to spend prolonged time in the cold (snow particularly), you may want something a little more "hardcore."
