I bought these cold weather boots for several reasons. I live in southwestern Ohio. And sometimes we get very cold weather with periodic heavy snow and ice (but, not as much as the central and northern parts of Ohio). Well, the first parts of my body that experience the pain of cold weather are my toes and fingers. And, when I go to the Ohio State Buckeye games in late November, I want to be comfortable watching the game no matter where my seats are (only Buckeye fans know what I mean in Ohio Stadium that seats over 106,000 fans). I solved the finger problem; but not the toes. I tried double and triple socks. But after an hour or more in below 20 degree weather; my toes still became numb. A friend told me that I needed a thicker sole boot with the ability to tuck my pants in the shaft of the boot. That made sense, so in my search I found these boots. They have about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch sole from the ground to the inner sole and a thick durable rubber covering of the toes, sides and heal of the boot. Yet, the boot is not like wearing ankle weights. The shaft is well insulated and comes far enough up your lower leg to easily tuck your pants into the shaft of the boot. What was a great surprise to me is that the shaft allows you to tuck your pants legs inside the outer shell of the boot shaft and inner shell of the boot to transfer body heat from your legs inside the boot, while keeping the cold out. Great concept! (probably would sell a lot more of these boots, if that where in the advertised description).In addition to the games, I have a 16 month energetic dog, that is going to love spending more time at the dog park and hiking this winter, now that I have these boots. Too bad he can't write a review.

The height, tread, material and weight make these ideal boots for dealing with the snow and ice that I have in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I would highly recommend them to anyone who deals with inclement weather. Another plus is that they are extremely comfortable and warm.
