I purchased these boots a few days ago and have walked extensively in them for the past few days (6+ miles each day). There is some sort of ankle plate, probably made of plastic that is super tight and constantly rubs against my ankle on both sides. I would compare it to a stone against your ankle bone rubbing as you walk. There is also chaffing in the upper ankle. I do not know if these boots need to be broken in, but I don't think any boot should be this uncomfortable just after purchase. If you are looking for something to be able to walk in then I don't recommend these boots.

I ordered these boots for winter hunting trips. I own another pair of Columbia boots that I use for backpacking and hiking that are a size 16 and they are the perfect size. I ordered these boots in the same size 16, but these seemed to run a size larger. Returned these and re-ordered them in the correct size (15). No hassle return, fast shipping. It hasn't been cold enough to wear them out yet, but I have worn them around the house and they seem comfortable. They do need to be broke in, so do not expect to buy them and wear them out right away.

They are warm and comfortable,These boots are excellent for the outdoors. The boot is sturdy and looks great and so light. It is also very effective in the cold.
