Picked up these Sorel boots about a month ago, and have been wearing them on / off since...here's my thoughts...For about $145.00, they're not the cheapest, but not the most expensive boots of this type. I feel the leather quality is premium, nice and thick, full grain, and just butter soft to the touch...this to me is one of the best aspects of this boot.Another commendable aspect to this boot is they're plain comfortable -- I can wear them all day, and no pain -- the insole used is nice and cooshy...they are NOT heavy, and are not cumbersome on the foot...little to no break-in required. The wool insulation layer, as some others have noted, is limited to the top of the boot, and extends to the ankle area. With that said, never have my feet been cold -- I wouldn't treck through the Alaskan wilderness in the winter in them, but for regular winter walks, hikes, rainy weather and light snow, these should prove more than adequate. They seem true to size -- the 10's fit as they should...but with enough room still for thick wool socks if needed.Recommended!

Reasonable construction and quality, It's biggest failure is that the felt at the top of the boot shown in the image is not a complete liner ends at the ankle so you end up with warm ankles and cold feet as there is no meaningful insulation in the rest of the boot. The grip is reasonable in fresh snow but compacted snow or ice they are pretty bad. I used to use Jungle Boots which had far superior grip in the snow but no insulation so I was hoping for an improvement. The rubber welting is of some concern, I have only had them a month and there is no sign of it detaching from the leather but I am not convinced they will last more than one winter season.
