1Bizarre and scaring
By Alexander
Many customers reported reliability problem connected with the wear of the sole in FSN 95. However, my case is just shockingly bizarre - during the 1st day of the trekking in French Alps the sole of the left boot started to degrade in the heel area and next morning the whole sole totally collapsed. During the day the right boot also collapsed, so I had to descend almost barefoot in emergency conditions. I tried to address this problem (total physical degradation of the both soles within 2 days of trekking) to Asolo, but my detailed report (with attached quality photos of the problematic areas) was unanswered, which means that the customer support in the company is just absent!I am shocked by the company inability to react as much as by the quality of the boots (the piece of extreme sport goods, which we expect to be extremely reliable, as we put our security and even life on the bet when we are in the mountains)

1Basically Fell Apart
By RKBA1963
Both my bride & I bought a pair of these boots several years ago, based mostly on the ratings we read at the Backpacker WEB site as being a top notch boot. We are not long distance hikers or backpackers and these were worn mostly for short day hikes of up to about 5 miles. More often than not, they are used for romping through the woods GeoCaching. We both found them comfortable and gave us the sole & ankle support we needed for our activities. Longer hikes or serious backpacking could be a different story. They were never used for long distance hiking or seen much in the way of water crossings, campfires, extreme cold; just casual use. If I had to estimate the number of miles we put on them, I would say less than 300 over all the years we owned them. When we were not wearing them, they were in our closet at the cabin, so not exposed to diverse weather. This weekend, we decided to lace them up and go Geocaching. We went about one mile and she noticed the sole started coming off one boot from the back. Then we noticed the other one was doing the same thing. Instead of having them flop around to go back to the Jeep, we just ripped the soles off as we knew she would not attempt to fix them.About half way back to parking lot, mine did the exact same thing. Really strange that two pairs of boots would fall apart the same day, in the same manner. I didn't tear the soles off mine and wore them on back home. In looking at the design, it looks as if the soles were glued or in some other way, attached to the upper part of the boot. The area where they attached had disintegrated into almost a black powder and was actually crumbling onto the floor.I looked them over and decided I was not going to attempt to use Goop or anything else to try and attach the sole, which is unfortunate. The tops of the boot are still in really good condition, however I did not want to try and repair them after looking at how they fell apart. We decided to go with another brand and try them out. I uploaded a picture of my boots after we returned from this hike.

4Great boot with soles that wear to quickly!!!
By S. Cook
This is possibly the most confortable boot I have ever worn. I loved the boots right out of the box. I put a lot of miles on with limited break in. Unfortunately the soles wear down way too quickly. The uppers were in excellent condition when the soles wore through. You can supposedly get a new Vibram sole but cobblers are hard to find out in suburbia so I wore them as lawn mowing shoes until the stitching finally wore through. With a hardcore Vibram sole out of the box these boots would be nearly perfect.I would still recommend them for someone taking a good hiking trip on short notice with no time for boot break-in. These shoes would work great for this type of trip as the sole wear would not be a deal breaker.
